This was a pleasent little beach at the foot of the falls where the river Parana is born, a huge river that marks the border between Argentina and Paraguay. We became good friends with the Parana on our journey. One of the most impressive aspects of life along the Parana is the abundance of wildlife. The buttleflies for one were spectacular, hundreds of species performing dances all around us, beautiful. We were fortunate enough to arrive on the day when the new queen ants leave to mate and start colonies of their own. I´ve often enjoyed the thought of everybody going about their day to day business oblivious to the immense orgy taking place on around them. This was such an occasion although this time the species of ant involved was huge. We watched the ant in the picture land and proceed to rip each of its wings off like an airman discarding his parachute. It then found a suitable bit of ground and started to dig a hole. I didn´t have the patience to watch the rest but it was fantastic.
