Lomas de Zamora

The Future

This is the Planitarium it is a very nice, isolated piece of futurist architechture. Also we have Saskia posed as if in a painting by Balthus.

Plaza Cortazar

Graffiti

Here we have a subtle piece of grafitti outside a shop window that roughly translates "this is a load of sh*t".
It was taken in a rather pretentious part of Palermo that is now referred to as Palermo SOHO.

Delpht breakfast

Av. San Juan

This is just a pretty picture on the afternoon before the match.

Planning

We have started planning the rest of our travels in more detail now.

Downtown

This is in the centre of town down some oppressive little streets in a part of town associated with jewelry shopping. It was pissing down with rain today and miserable. Notice how the cyclist looks like he will murder me when he gets his hands on me.

Juice

All the juice you buy in the shops here is lowsy but the fresh oranges cater for excellent freshly squeezed goodness in the mornings.

Apartment

Here I am in our apartment at night. It is hot. I am naked.

Inchas!

Here are some Independiente fans. We were sat very high up on a concrete structure looking out over the Aveyaneda district of the city. It was at about 11.00 in the evening and about 23 degrees C. Upon the otherside of the stadium there are railway tracks and the train drivers would blow the horn as they went past, it was quite atmospheric.

Football

Football is popular. This is a game between Independiente and underdogs Colon.

Pings!

Here is a nice picture a of the daughter with some old people in the background discussing philosophy.

Evenings

The colours of the sky as you scan from east to west are striking particularly with the silouhettes of buildings, statues, palmtrees and street lamps, it sometimes reminds me of a Tony Hart.

Dusk

The sun is burning hot now during the day but in the late afternoons it cools down a bit, becomes golden and casts long shadows down the the streets. It is really a beautiful part of the day.

Feet

My feet are getting more brown.
Good!

Park

Here is a typical park scene. There were the old guys playing chess and drinking mate in the background talking about how it is more dangerous than it used to be, but I cropped them out of the picture they didn´t come out so good.

Pichuco

This piece of grafitti represents a Tango giant called Anibal Troilo. Look how he plays the Bandoneon.

Abuela

In the end of the day we came over to Argentina to spend some time with family. This is a picture of my grandmother. She is a wonderful woman. She also has a wonderful kitchen.

Defensa

The street we are staying on is called Defensa. Abundant are the passageways that open up into little courtyards such as this.

Restaurant

Here is the sort of place where you can gourge yourself on fine meat till you get bowel cancer.
This is down our street. notice the porteño on the bottom left.

Steak

The steak here is very good as well as the wine, the coffee, the women, the literature, the music and lots of other things.
This photograph looks disgusting but it tastes really good. It was in a two bit restaurant on a busy little street called Sarmiento. As we speak there is a young boy next to me playing computer games, his cursing is poetic, the things he says about his mother´s genitalia are amazing, he is a real porteño.

Bus

This is a bus going up our street. It is nice.

Parque Lezama

This is the park that our apartment overlooks. It is very pleasant, it makes me feel like we are in the Seventies. Everymorning before a Coffee, the daughter and I go for a round on the swings or "pings" as she calles them.
This of course, is only after a session at the gym. I have already started working toward my goal of having tha physique of an Adonis by the time we reach Copacabana Beach. I will be brown and shiny.

Porteño

Porteño is the word used for the people of Buenos Aires. They are a handsome and cultured breed. This is a picture of the statue that sits in the middle of the park which our flat overlooks.
I don´t know what it means but I think it has something to do with being porteño.

Cafe Britanico

This is a picture of my daughter. She is very beautiful and she stirs my coffee in the morning. If I were a real "porteño" I would write poetry dedicated to her and recite it to her while she sleeps.

San Telmo

The next few photos are all taken locally to where we are staying.
This is a picture inside the Cafe that I frequent. It is called cafe Britanico, a patriotic choice.

Buenos Aires

We are in Buenos Aires. We have been spending the last week establishing our day to day routine for the next six weeks as well as visiting family and friends. We are staying in a nice little spot called San Telmo where you can while away the hours in the cafes reading Dostoyevsky novels.

The Team

We are off now. Here is a picture of the team.

My new hat!!

We have been staying with my folks for a little while now and I have taken a little time to accomplish a few things like my new
lego helmet.
